Day 1: Kigali to Akagera National Park – Afternoon Game Drive

Your Trail Trek Africa guide will pick you up early in the morning from your hotel or Kigali International Airport. Begin your journey with a scenic drive to Akagera National Park, located in eastern Rwanda. Upon arrival, check in at the park headquarters and start your adventure with an afternoon game drive.
Explore the southern and central sections of the park, spotting giraffes, zebras, antelope species, and majestic elephants. As the day winds down, enjoy breathtaking views of the park’s rolling hills and shimmering lakes.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Boat Safari on Lake Ihema

Rise early for a morning game drive in search of the Big Five. Your guide will take you through the northern plains, where large herds of wildlife often gather. Keep an eye out for predators such as lions and leopards, as well as grazing buffalo and roaming elephants.
Afterward, head to Lake Ihema for an optional boat safari. This one-hour boat ride offers a unique perspective of the park, with opportunities to see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species, including the rare shoebill stork.
Following lunch, enjoy a leisurely drive back to Kigali, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
